Feito a partir do design original de John D'Angelico, o tom orgânico equilibrado Premier EGG-1 recorda o som de uma caixa de jazz clássica de Nova York. Combina com a assinatura D'Angelico apresenta a peça traseira da Escada, a tampa da haste de treliça do arranha-céu e o cabeçote icônico, o EGG-1 incorpora elegância. Excellent value for someone unwilling to spend double to triple for the standard EXL-1 model. The Premier line is made in Indonesia.
The stock images do not do the finish justice. The wine red finish is very deep and dark, but the wood shows through beautifully. The top and back are not "figured", but the grain patterns are very nice.
It arrived very playable out of the box. The action seems a little high, but I have not had time to go through a full setup. The neck is straight and feels nice.

Considering that these normally go for a couple more hundred than I paid... I'm very pleased with this Guitar. D'Angelico is well regarded and makes fine instruments. The set-up on the guitar was decent but a little high for my playing tastes - so I did have to do a little adjustment, which was relatively easy. Also, the bridge comes standing on a piece of foam paper so you do have to slacken the strings, remove the foam while keeping the bridge in place, and re-tune the guitar. Not a big deal - but it might be helpful for people to know up front. Once set up, the guitar plays beautifully and I'm impressed with the build quality as well as fit and finish. The attention to detail with the tuners, the headstock design, etc., is very impressive. One small nit-pick is that the wood is plain and it would have been nice to have a bit of flame, especially on the back. But it's still a gorgeous instrument - and the electronics sound excellent. While it is suited to jazz - I will enjoy exploring its versatility.

Hands down, this is the most beautiful instrument I have owned. Yes, it is mass produced, but I hope you will familiarize yourself with the legacy of John D’Angelico and his influence on other master luthiers such as James D’Aquisto and Bob Benedetto. There’s a sticker on the back that says made in Indonesia, but I have to admit these guys did an exquisite job with all of the inlays and bindings of the art deco era. The finish is beautiful, thick and glossy, but most important it's smooth under raking light.
Acoustically, it sounds weak and tinny because the body is plywood, but I’ve learned this is actually preferable for playing amplified. For those in the know, the soundboard appears to be parallel braced with no sound post. The neck is amazing. Looks like one solid piece of mahogany set up with 12-54’s at a full 25 ½“ scale, and it’s still straight and true. As with any new guitar I still need to work on it’s setup, but I am more than happy with my purchase.
